The "airlock" is an entrance-way with a door at each end, which reduces the possibility of escape.

The walls are built around a pop-up canopy, with tarps over it to provide better protection against rain and sun.

The sides of the main structure are made of welded wire mesh, with a 2"x4" mesh size. A smaller mesh would be safer for small cats and kittens. The bottom of the fence is bent outward and buried, to prevent animals from digging under.

The fence which makes up the sides is topped by corrogated black plastic pipe. The pipe is split longitudinally, along one side, and slipped over the top of the fence. This is to discourage wild animals from climbing. The top of the structure is closed by a tent of "garden netting".

Wooden shelves provide a resting place off the dirt floor. The shelves are supported by cedar posts planted directly in the dirt.
